Love Story - Opening Night

"Say that love's a bridge to cross an ocean..."

So hono(u)red to be opening the North American premiere of Love Story tonight in Philadelphia alongside my fictional husband, the wonderful Will Reynolds. It has been the greatest artistic experience of my career thus far.

More thoughts to come...

But tonight? My dear Emma Williams, this one is for you. xx

  13. I watched tonight's show although I'm not really a theater person. I'm an outdoorsy, snowboarding, fly-fishing, sport's watching, 42 year old guy. I live in Colorado but am visiting New Jersey where I grew up. My brother and his wife have season tickets to the Walnut Street Theater and asked me to join them. I said yes pretty much because I had nothing else to do.
I can't tell you how glad I am that I went. The show was awesome to say the least. The rest of the cast was great but your performance was so outstanding that I had to find a way to tell you. Thankfully you have a blog that comes up with a simple Google search and I can just tell you here.
To be honest, I wasn't too excited to see a musical, especially a romantic musical. During the very beginning of the opening number I was like "Oh man, this is going to be a long night", but then I heard your singing. Wow, your voice blew me away. By the end of that number, I was hooked. I can't get over how your acting and singing drew me into the story so much that by the end of the show, I was crying. Yes, I actually cried. I have never cried seeing any kind of live performance in my life. I wasn't the only one crying too because I heard sniffles all around and noticed two women in front of me wiping their eyes with tissues. You are a brilliant actress and magnificent singer.
Please tell the rest of the cast, the orchestra, and the crew that your show was awesome. Tonight was the catalyst that will actually make me see productions at the Denver Center for Performing Arts when I return to Colorado instead of just driving by it.
Thanks for giving me one of the best nights that I've had in a long time.

    John
